A web hosting control panel is a web interface (software) provided by a hosting provider that allows administrators to manage the server and clients to manage their paid Internet services in one place. The control panels are usually modular, which allow the management and supervision of various services of the server, such as:

  • web server (e.g. Apache, Nginx, etc.)
  • database server (e.g. MySQL, MariaDB, etc.)
  • monitoring available and consumed resources (free disk space, CPU usage, memory, bandwidth)
  • DNS server
  • POP3 /IMAP server
  • SMTP server
  • spam filtering
  • FTP server
  • web file management system
  • user management
  • timed tasks
  • production and analysis of visitor statistics
  • view log files
  • firewall management

The basic purpose of the web hosting control panel is to simplify the process of installing and integrating the various programs and scripts required to provide web hosting services. After installation, there is usually a web-based graphical interface for the administrator to manage the server, while allowing end-user web pages to be published, web-based mail, and files to be modified using ftp.
