Welcome to my linuxportal.info page!
I am Péter Botond, an IT specialist, programmer and web developer who found his professional home in the world of Linux. The main purpose of creating this page is to bring the use and operation of Linux systems closer to both beginners and advanced users. Here you will find practical tutorials, detailed guides and articles based on personal experiences that will help you understand and effectively use various aspects of Linux systems. In addition to the rapid development of technology, a thorough knowledge of Linux is essential both professionally and as a hobby. My goal is to be your companion on this journey, and together we will discover the endless possibilities provided by the Linux system.
A personal journey through the world of Linux
In the decades that have passed since my first steps in the IT world - with a Commodore 64 machine - my passion for technology has only grown. My first encounter with Linux systems dates back to the early '90s, when I was still in high school. Since then, I have returned to Linux several times, although my attention was often diverted in other directions during my IT and other activities.
Over the past two decades, I have created several websites of my own, which I started primarily as a hobby. These websites, such as the one launched in 2004 nokiaprogramok.hu and the forum page created a few years later, the mobilprogramok.hu, were initially gathering places for hobbyist communities built around Nokia mobile phones, which also functioned as websites dedicated to the better days of Nokia mobile phones of that era. Due to the continuous increase in visitor traffic at the time, these sites required more and more background work and maintenance, which could no longer be handled by traditional web hosts. This led to the focus being shifted towards own operation, which also provided an excellent opportunity to get to know Linux systems in more depth.
In recent years, thanks to these factors, it became necessary again to learn more about Linux, which eventually became my passion. That's when I decided to fully dedicate myself to Linux, both as a hobby and as a professional.
I currently run several of my own web projects on a rented server, which I supervise myself. As a result, using Linux is not only a necessary part of my work, but an opportunity to gain new knowledge. Despite my initial lack of experience, I had to quickly adapt to acute situations, which forced me to effectively acquire the knowledge necessary to operate the server. These challenges not only strengthened me, but also gave me the opportunity to continuously expand my practical experience.
Solving problems that arise during my daily work, trying new solutions and recording successful interventions gave me the idea to create this website. My goal is to systematize my own experiences and the vast Linux knowledge base and make it available to others in a transparent way.
Purpose and concept of the website
The primary goal of linuxportal.info is to serve as a useful repository where knowledge and experience related to Linux systems is gathered. The idea of the website came from the fact that I myself felt the need for a platform where I could collect my constantly growing notes in a structured, transparent and easily accessible way, and on the other hand, I would like to further deepen my knowledge of Drupal in a CMS system from which this page itself is made. Thanks to the content management system, I don't have to deal with the development of the site, but I can better concentrate on working with Linux and creating content.
The concept of the website also provides an opportunity to not only preserve practical knowledge related to the use of Linux systems, but also to share it with others.
The content on the site comes from several sources, including tutorials based on my own experiences, as well as guides taken from other websites, but reinterpreted and tested by me. These articles are not copies of found material; I thoroughly revise each piece to ensure they are reliable and up-to-date. As a result, visitors to the site not only receive tried and tested solutions, but also detailed, understandable and easy-to-follow tutorials.
I structure the contents logically and organize them into categories so that users can quickly find what they need. Each tutorial is often accompanied by screenshots, step-by-step instructions, and technical tips to help readers understand and apply the procedures presented. In addition, I am constantly improving the presentation of the content so that the user experience is as high as possible.
Details about the content and its production
The primary source of the content on linuxportal.info is my own experience and solutions accumulated over the years. I will update and expand these notes - as time allows - to provide up-to-date information. In addition, I also use tutorials from other reliable sources, which I carefully study, re-create and test if necessary, in order to pass on the most accurate and reliable knowledge possible.
I carefully edit and structure all my descriptions. I also pay special attention to the presentation of information: the most important parts I also highlight it visually with different panels, icons and screenshots. These visual aids help users better understand the content, create examples more easily, and make it clear and attractive.
How can the site help the Linux community?
linuxportal.info is not only an information platform, but also the basis of an active, learning community. The knowledge and experience shared on the site help Linux users to better understand and use the system more efficiently, whether for hobby projects or professional use. The purpose of the site is to support users in getting to know the world of Linux more deeply and in developing their problem-solving skills, which promotes professional growth and the implementation of more successful projects.
Call for community participation and contact
I consider it important that website visitors are not only passive readers, but also active participants in the Linux community. Therefore, under each article I provide the opportunity to write comments, where users can share their own opinions and experiences and ask questions if they need further help. Through these interactive elements, a living, learning community can be created, where everyone can contribute to the expansion of the common body of knowledge.
I welcome anyone interested in Linux to join the linuxportal.info community. If you have any questions or would like to share your own experiences, feel free to comment below the articles or write to me directly at botond@linuxportal.info at e-mail address. With the constantly expanding content of the website and the possibility of social interaction, I hope that it will be a valuable resource for everyone who wants to get to know the Linux system better or to deepen their knowledge.
I wish all visitors a pleasant pastime and fruitful learning!
